Season Extension Techniques For Small Farms - Part 1 of 2
Join the Kitsap Community & Agricultural Alliance (KCAA) for a special class focusing on Season Extension Techniques with the Kitsap Conservation District's GRACE Garden in Poulsbo - Part 1 of a 2-Part Series! This event is part of a social networking and educational series for Kitsap Farmers, supported by the Russell Family Foundation Food for Climate Solutions Grant.
Diane Fish and Teddy Krause will take attendees on a tour of their greenhouse and high tunnel, explaining how these tools can be used to help farmers continue to grow food throughout the year. They will also highlight some of the season-extension materials that they use to help moderate conditions and extend production across seasons (records keeping, multi-cropping, crop storage, shade cloth, mulches, hoops + more).
Stay after class for a special 30-min. Q&A with Diane (GRACE Garden Coordinator) and Teddy (Farm Manager). Each registered attendee will receive a free gift to take home from the KCAA.
** This is one part of an in-person series of social networking events offered by the Kitsap Community & Agricultural Alliance (KCAA), with support from WSU Kitsap Extension. These networking opportunities will run from May through November 2024 with the goal of bringing Kitsap Farmers together to network, build community, create new business connections and friendships, and provide education and mentoring opportunities. The events will give farmers in Kitsap a venue for peer-to-peer discussion, and encourage them to become more connected as a farming community.
